Are you a designer? Yes, and an artist.
One word to describe your take on design: Sculptural.
Isabel Rower
The last thing you made: A ceramic chair embedded with Swarovski crystals. It is part of a set traveling to NADA Miami in November.
The next thing you want to make: The furniture for Europa Gallery’s office on the Lower East Side. I am beginning the process of fabrication on that soon.
A designed object you adore: My bike.
A designed object you can’t stand the sight of: Brushed brass fixtures.
A moment of pure creative joy: Watching RHONY in the studio.
When we say “designing the future,” what comes to mind? Wealth redistribution, resource redistribution.
If you could show your work to anyone in the world, who would it be? Lee Bontecou.

Your *grail*: if you could own one iconic design work, what would it be? A fireplace made by Valentine Schlegel.

What’s next for you? I’ve been a bit of a factory the past two months building up an inventory of functional ceramics for a brick and mortar pop up store at the Hammer museum in LA that will be up for 4 months starting in early November, as well as a pop-up store at Makie in Soho in December. I also have been making work for my first show of sculptures which will open in a three person show in New Orleans in November.
